Meet the Dentists
Dr. Derek Kirkham
A native of Bountiful, Utah, Dr. Kirkham earned his bachelor's degree at Brigham Young University and his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. He completed a one year general dentistry residency at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, then served two years as a general dentist at Ellsworth Air Force Base near Rapid City, South Dakota. After separating from the Air Force, Dr. Kirkham completed a two year residency in pediatric dentistry at the Children's Hospital in Denver. He is an avid cyclist and competes in triathlons. Dr. Kirkham and his wife, Deanna, enjoy Colorado's outdoor activities with their four children.
Dr. Jeffrey Kahl
A native of Windsor, Colorado, Dr. Kahl earned his bachelor's degree at Colorado State University and his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at CU. He practiced at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland and at the Naval Air Weapons Station in China Lake, California, but remained interested in pediatric dentistry ever since he and other students got the chance to work at dental clinics in Romania. After separating from the Navy, he completed a two year residency in pediatric dentistry at the Children's Hospital in Denver where he still works as a part time faculty member. Dr. Kahl, his wife, Carrie, daughter, Kaylee, and son, Preston, enjoy hiking and camping in the Colorado mountains.
Dr. Ken Otterstedt
Dr. Otterstedt grew up in Auburn, Indiana. He attended Butler University for his bachelor’s degree and remained in Indianapolis to complete his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at Indiana University School of Dentistry. He then started his career in the United States Navy completing a general practice residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego. His general dentist naval career included stops onboard the USS Kitty Hawk and Naval Health Center Great Lakes. He then completed his residency in pediatric dentistry at Children’s Hospital Colorado before concluding his active military service at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. He continues his military service as a reservist. He enjoys hiking, skiing, traveling and spending time with his wife, Linnea, and son, Theodore.
Dr. Martin Gossenauer
Dr. Martin Gossenauer is a native of Aurora, Colorado. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Denver and his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Colorado. After dental school, he completed a one-year general-dentistry residency at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, and served as a general dentist in the Army. Upon separation from the Army, Dr. Martin returned to Colorado to practice general dentistry in Denver and Aurora for several years. Realizing the area of dentistry he enjoyed most was working with children, he completed a two-year residency in pediatric dentistry at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Dr. Martin, his wife, Shauna, and their three children enjoy hiking, fishing, and spending time in the mountains of Colorado.
